Farmers Market Assistant: Employment Opportunity - Posted May 29, 2017
The South Bronx Farmers Market is seeing a part-time market assistant. The market is located on 138th Street between Willis & Alexander Avenues in the South Bronx. The Market Assistant will work on Saturdays and/or Wednesdays from June 17 - November 22nd. Hours would be roughly 9 am - 5 pm each market day.
The mission of the South Bronx Farmers Market, Inc. (“SBFM”) is to address the public health crises in obesity, diabetes, malnourishment and undernourishment by promoting access to nutritious, affordable, locally grown produce and related agricultural products for the under-served residents of the South Bronx.
This is a busy market and we are seeking applicants that are outgoing and comfortable speaking with people to either help, give directions, explain programming, work with vendors and be a welcoming face at the market. The day starts very quickly and staff must be ready upon checking in to work each market day. The market is outside and staff must be prepared for any weather each market day.
